Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of KidSafeTube, including the web application and theKidSafeTube Chrome extension. By signing up or installing the extension, you agree to them. Please read them in full.

Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. KidSafeTube is intended for parents, teachers, event organisers, and other adults screening content on behalf of children. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.

Acceptable use

Use KidSafeTube to screen content you have a legitimate reason to review. Do not use it to harass, stalk, or target any individual.
Do not attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or abuse our APIs.
Respect the usage limits of your plan. We may throttle or suspend accounts that repeatedly exceed fair-use thresholds.

Prohibited content in free-text fields

The links you submit for screening can be anything - that is the point of the service, and flagging explicit material is exactly what KidSafeTube is for. Separately, some screens let you enter your own free text (for example your screening profile or a support message). To keep KidSafeTube safe, that free text is automatically rejected if it falls into any of the categories below. Rejected entries are not saved.

Adult content. Sexually explicit or suggestive material aimed at people, solicitation, or content directing users to adult sites.
Spam, phishing, and malicious content. Fraudulent, deceptive, or malicious messaging, phishing attempts, credential theft, or any content designed to scam or mislead.
Hate speech. Content that attacks, demeans, or discriminates against people based on race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, nationality, or political alignment.
Harassment. Content intended to threaten, intimidate, or abuse an individual.

Our filter is automated and may occasionally flag legitimate text - if that happens, rephrase and try again. Repeatedly submitting prohibited content may result in your account being suspended.

Plans and billing

Free accounts receive a limited number of scans. Family plans are billed monthly or annually via Stripe. Classroom plans are arranged by enquiry rather than self-serve checkout. Lifetime Deal (LTD) purchases are one-time payments that grant the listed features for the lifetime of the product.

Lifetime Deal (LTD) plans require you to bring your own AI API key. Because LTD is a one-time payment with no ongoing subscription revenue, KidSafeTubecannot absorb unlimited AI token costs on your behalf. Before you can run scans on an LTD plan, you must add an Anthropic API key in Settings › AI Providers. Your key is used solely to power your own scans and is never shared with other users.

You can cancel a subscription at any time from Settings. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period. LTD purchases are non-refundable after 14 days.

Company and billing entity

KidSafeTube is operated by Apptimistic Pty Ltd, an Australian company. When you purchase a subscription or Lifetime Deal, the charge on your bank statement or card will appear as Apptimistic. This is expected - Apptimistic Pty Ltd is the legal entity behind KidSafeTube, and Stripe processes the payment on our behalf. Your content

You retain all rights to the links and information you submit. We claim no ownership over your content. You grant us a limited licence to process and store the links you submit, the lyrics and transcripts we retrieve for them, and the resulting scan results, solely to deliver the service.

Third-party services

Content classification is powered by a third-party AI provider. We retrieve lyrics and transcripts from independent third-party sources. Billing runs on Stripe, data storage and authentication use Supabase, and transactional email uses Resend. Each provider has its own terms.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. You can delete your account at any time from Settings.

Disclaimer

KidSafeTubeis provided "as is". Our verdicts are advisory and generated by automated analysis; they are not a guarantee that a video or song is appropriate, and they may occasionally be wrong in either direction. Always use your own judgement before relying on a verdict for a child.
